Yesterday was sunny, warm and packed full of fun as I (Shelli) hiked with my sister and niece in the beautiful Tennessee woods! That is... until the injury. Jumping from a low log bridge onto the steeply inclined hill on the other side, I landed wrong and seriously damaged my thigh muscle (quads). I nearly blacked out and became extremely nauseated from the searing pain. Fearing a rip, or worse, a separation, I limped and cried my way back to the car (thankfully, we only had about a half mile more to go), and immediately iced down the affected area. Staying in close contact with my concerned Dad, who's a doctor, we decided to wait until this morning to seek direct medical help (we have no insurance in America), hoping and praying for rapid improvement. And... I think we've got it! Though I'm still in lots of pain, and obviously required to take a break from my exercise routines, we've completely ruled out a separation (yea! my muscles are still attached to the bones!!!), and are thinking that the injury is little more than an extreme pull or perhaps a slight rip. Whereas yesterday, I couldn't lift my leg at the hip (think "knee lifts") and could barely lift it at the knee (think "kicks!), today I can easily do the latter and even pull off the former... and though the knee lifts happen with much pain and only a couple inches of success, it's enough (along with the fact that there's no bruising and very little swelling) to satisfy us that there's no need for reparative surgery... or even a visit to the doctor. I'm going to be just fine... so long as I can make myself take it very, very easy and keep ice on the injury. Not easy for this active girl!!! But I'll be good, I promise!!! I'm just extremely grateful that it wasn't any worse... and that God's healing me up really quick. I totally thought I'd be much worse off this morning, but I'm not. I'm better!! And I'm thinkin' He's at work!! Yea!!!!! Please remember me in your prayers. THANKS!
Danke für euere Mittragung!!!
